Macaroons are always a great addition to any special celebration whether a wedding or a birthday. Not only do they taste lovely, you can simply create a real wow factor by using various food colouring pastes to add bright colours to your macaroons.
You will need the following ingredients to make 24 macaroons.
You will need the following equipment.
Step 1
Mix ground almonds with icing sugar and finely grind in a blender.
Step 2
Beat the egg whites and when starting to get stiff add sugar, beating constantly
Step 3
Strain the almond sugar mix over the egg whites and slowly fold in.
Step 4
Add your desired colour to the mixture.
Step 5
Fill a piping bag with the macaroon mixture and pipe onto a macaroon silicone mat.
Step 6
Leave the shells to stand for at least 1 hour at room temperature
Step 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 150c for approx 12-15 minutes
Step 8
Turn around half of the shells
Step 9
Fill the macaroons with a buttercream or ganche and assemble.
