With Halloween approaching soon we have had great fun designing our Halloween Gothic Wedding Cake. The cake stands approximately 4ft on a black milk cake stand and is based on a castle design with a few differences! Using Doric’s Sweet lace and silicone lace mats we created a gothic lace design around the bases of the cakes and towers. The Sweet Lace product is absolutely fantastic to use and the end design result is stunning.
Simply weight out approx 45g of Sweet lace Icing, 55ml of water, add colouring gel of your choice (black in our case), 5g of Sweet Lace gel and gently mix for 5-10 minutes. Pour the icing onto your lace mat. Then using a palette knife work the icing into the mould making sure there are no gaps or bubbles. Leave to dry for 6-8 hours or as we did, place into your oven at 80 c for 10-12 minutes. Once dry simply peel the lace icing away from the mould. The lace can form around almost any shape and gives a professional finish to your cake design.
Black Candy Melts were used to tile the towers and we used the wonderful Patchwork cutters to create the gothic style church windows, Our handmade sugar figures were created in the image of a zombie bride and groom and a bat stencil was used to really add a Halloween feel to this wedding cake.
All the products used to create this gothic wedding cake, are available in our Sugarbliss Cake Decorating Shop, Knowle, Solihull and we are more than happy to give you all the advise necessary to create amazing wedding cakes, celebration and birthday cakes, sugar flowers, sugar modelling and cake designing.
We will shortly add a couple pictures of our stunning gothic themed wedding cake, so you can see the wonderful effect of Sweet Lace icing.
