Sugarbliss Children’s Cake Classes

Last week saw the start of our very popular children’s cake classes held in our newly built cake decorating studio and running every week throughout the school summer holidays.

In our 2 hour cake class, children from the ages of 6 plus can learn all the skills that we use, to create their very own cupcakes to take home.

We also cater throughout the year for children’s cake parties. In our cake party class, children can celebrate their special occasion with their friends learning all the skills and techniques on how to create four fantastic cupcake designs. Not only do the children have great fun creating the cupcakes, they also get to take them home afterwards to eat them!

The 2 hour children’s cake party class costs ¬£15 per child which includes all ingredients and tools to create their four fantastic cupcakes. Children’s party classes can be booked at various times throughout the day, early evening and year to fit in with your special days events.

Sugarbliss Cake Studio

This week saw our fabulous new cake decorating studio finally completed and fully open. The new cake decorating studio has been built at the back of our Sugar Craft and Cake Decorating Shop on the High Street in Knowle, Solihull.
Our new cake decorating studio was finished just in time for the beginners cake decorating course which started on Tuesday and we are really looking forward to the children’s cake course starting next week.

We will of course be announcing at the end of August our next cake decorating course schedules. The next list of cake courses will also include our 3 tier wedding cake decoration course and our very popular celebration cake decorating course, amongst our intermediate and beginners cake decorating courses for those of you who were not able to attend the last cake decorating course.

In the mean time, we thought it would be fun to show you just a few of the cakes we have created this week in our new studio.

Wedding Cake Budgeting

Sticking to the big day budget can be exhausting and difficult and in this months Your West Midlands Wedding magazine we were asked to answer the big question in the Hot Topic experts advice section.

Q . My fiance and I are working to a tight budget with our catering, so would like to serve our wedding cake as the desert. We want it to look and taste like a final course though, rather than a plain piece of cake. What might fit the bill?

Sugarbliss Cake Company’s Answer :-

Your wedding cake designer should be able to recommend a number of different flavours, some of which are more suitable for a dessert than others. You could try a rich chocolate cake served with fresh strawberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or perhaps a refreshing lemon curd cake served with raspberry coulis and a drizzle of fresh cream.

Whatever you decide, remember the cake will need to be taken away well in advance of the dessert for the caterers to cut up into pieces. This might mean your cake will only be on show at the reception for a short amount of time, so you might want to consider having a smaller or fake cake for display purposes only, with the cutting cakes or cakes in the kitchen.

Another lovely option is to have individual cakes on each table. A 10 inch cake beautifully decorated with flowers could work well as an alternative centre piece. When the time comes for dessert, the caterers could then bring bowls of strawberries and jugs of cream to go with the cake.
